Free Car History Reports - VIN Checks?

in History

Like most other people I too like shopping for a used car on classifieds or from a dealer down the street. Also like most people I am usually on a tight budget and simply cannot afford to get scammed into buying a car that was totalled-junk!

Free carfax reports are impossible to be found anywhere online, but you can come close, for one vehicle history report at vinalert. The vinalert database of VIN reports is more accurate and more up to date than carfax and autocheck.

A survey of one hundred consumers who got a vehicle history report at vinalert revealed that they were very happy to have saved up to 30$.

VinAert finds vehicles that have been sold at insurance salvage auctions, including clean-title wrecks. This is what makes VINAlert stand out from the rest. History information is updated daily and this makes the reports more accurate. The database currently (June 2012) covers 87% of the total USA DMV data. The kind of data that is available is:

• Title problems
• Number of owners
• Junk Cars (including cash-for-clunkers)
• Insurance Information
• Taxi, Fleet or Rental cars.
• 18 Brands (such as salvaged cars and Flooded)
• Odometer roll back (Miles).

A price comparison demonstrates that they top all VIN Search companies, including even Carfax ® and Autocheck ® vehicle history data.

Right now, the vinalert database contains 362 million VINs. In addition to the States, there are some 8,000 other participating history reporting entities that fall into the auto recycler or insurance industries. The available data also includes vehicles reported stolen in Mexico.

I recommend this service, so give it a try (link in the Author box below) any time you are looking to buy or sell a used car. There are lots and lots of lemons and hidden problems in cars out there. The best thing you should do in order to protect yourself is to get a VIN report and have a mechanic inspect the car.
